🔁 Take your number anywhere

Porting Guide

Everything you need to move a number you bought on Number Sniper over to your own carrier or VoIP provider.

The Process

5 steps from purchase to activation

🛒

1. Purchase

Buy your number through checkout. Once payment is confirmed, it's yours.

📧

2. Get your info

Request your account number and PIN from your order — we'll email them to you.

📞

3. Contact carrier

Give your new carrier or VoIP provider the account number and PIN, and request a port-in.

4. Wait

Your carrier processes the port. Timing depends entirely on them.

5. Activate

Once the carrier confirms, the number goes live on their network automatically.

Before You Start

What you'll need

🔢

Account Number

Included in your porting-info email. For most numbers this is the phone number itself; for a small subset it's an 8-character code — see the note below.

🔑

Port-Out PIN

Also included in that email. You can resend it from your account at any time if you need it again.

🪪

Your ID

Some carriers ask for identity verification when you port a number into a new line.

📱

An active line with your new carrier

Most carriers want a plan or account already set up before they'll accept a port-in request.

Step 2, in Detail

How to get your porting info

  1. 1

Sign in and open your account dashboard.

  2. 2

Find the paid order under the Orders tab in your account dashboard with the number you want to port, and click Port Info.

  3. 3

Click Send Porting Info. We'll email you the account number and PIN for every number on that order.

  4. 4

Give those two details to your new carrier when you request the port-in.

Don't see a "Port Info" button yet? We're still preparing your porting details — check back shortly or contact support below.

Carrier Porting Methods

Click a carrier for detailed instructions

T T-Mobile Online, app, or call for prepaid · Same day–few hours*
  1. Go to t-mobile.com/resources/keep-your-number, or choose "Bring your number" when activating a new line in the app. Prepaid transfers can also be started by calling 1-877-778-2106.
  2. Enter the account number and PIN from your Number Sniper porting email, plus your billing ZIP code.
  3. Submit and wait for T-Mobile to confirm the transfer.

Pitfall: the ZIP code must match exactly what's on file — even a small mismatch will cause a rejection.

  1. Start or manage service at att.com, or visit an AT&T store, and choose "Transfer my number."
  2. Enter the account number and PIN from your Number Sniper porting email, along with your billing ZIP code.

Pitfall: AT&T's own "Get a Transfer PIN" tool is for numbers already on AT&T that are porting away — you don't need that here, just the account number and PIN from your porting email.

V Verizon Online, in-store, or phone · Same day–few hours*

  1. At checkout on mintmobile.com, choose "Keep my existing number."
  2. Enter the account number and PIN from your Number Sniper porting email.

  2. Enter the account number and PIN from your Number Sniper porting email.
  3. Pay Google's one-time $20 port-in fee to complete the request.

Note: Google Voice is app/web-based — it doesn't replace a physical SIM, and it can't receive some bank short-code SMS.

R RingCentral LOA via admin portal · 5–15 business days*
  1. From an active, paid RingCentral account, start a Number Port In order (Phone Numbers → Number Port In) — see support.ringcentral.com/porting.html.
  2. Sign RingCentral's Letter of Authorization (LOA) and enter the account number and PIN from your Number Sniper porting email.
  3. RingCentral typically also asks for proof you're authorized to release the number — your Number Sniper order confirmation or porting-info email works for this.

  1. Start a port-in from the Twilio Console or Porting API — see help.twilio.com.
  2. Provide the account number and PIN from your Number Sniper porting email; Twilio's process can also require a signed Letter of Authorization.

Note: Twilio's own guidance says this can take up to four weeks depending on the number type.

*Estimates only — actual time depends on your new carrier and how quickly your information matches their records.

Important Notes

A few things to keep in mind

⚠️

Don't cancel service on your end

If you're replacing an existing line, keep it active until your new carrier confirms the port is complete.

Only local numbers

Every number sold on Number Sniper is a standard local number, so it's eligible for a normal mobile or VoIP port — we don't sell toll-free numbers.

🔁

Resend anytime

Lost the email, or your carrier's form timed out? Reopen the order in your account and click Send Porting Info again.

🔤

Letters in your account number?

If your carrier's form only accepts digits, your porting email includes a digits-only fallback for that field — use it instead.

Self Troubleshoot

Carrier rejected the port?

"Invalid PIN" or "PIN rejected"

Double-check you copied the PIN exactly, with no extra spaces. If it still fails, reopen the order in your account and resend the porting info — the email always reflects the current PIN on file.

"Account number not found" or "Name mismatch"

Re-copy the account number directly from the email — some carrier forms strip letters. If your account number includes letters and the form rejects it, use the digits-only version noted below it in the same email.

"Number already in use" or "Not portable"

This usually clears up on its own within a short time. If your carrier still rejects it after trying again, contact support below and we'll look into it.

It's been over a week with no update

Check with your new carrier's support first — most delays happen on their end once they have your account number and PIN. If they show no record of the request, resend your porting info and try again.
